The Faculty of Clinical Informatics welcomes 178 new members, bringing total membership to over 800!

The sixth round of applications to join the Faculty of Clinical Informatics opened in July and we were thrilled with the number of quality applications received from informaticians in the UK and further afield. These applications were assessed by our multi-professional panel, which this year grew to 9 panel members to account for the growing number of applications received. The panel was again independently chaired by Professor Don Detmer (University of Virginia, Past-President of the American Medical Informatics Association). A huge thank you goes to the panel and Don for their hard work.

After assessment, the Faculty are delighted to have accepted 20 new Fellows, 83 new Members & 66 new Associates, bringing total Faculty membership to over 800!

Due to high levels of interest, this was also the first round in which we have included a new International Membership category, marking a big step forwards in the future of the Faculty. We are pleased to have accepted 9 new International Members from across the globe, including Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, the USA & the United Arab Emirates.

Lastly, this round was the first time that we launched our bursary scheme in collaboration with the Shuri Network, to offer BAME women in digital health a bursary to cover the cost of a year’s membership of the Faculty of Clinical Informatics. The Shuri Network have provided 25 new members with a bursary (more than originally planned!) - many congratulations to those members. The Faculty are delighted with the success of this scheme and hope that this may continue into future recruitment rounds.

From all of us at the Faculty, we’d like to give a very warm welcome to all our new members!

The next application window will be opening in February 2020. If you are interested in applying, please register your interest at the bottom of the page.
